As the iconic artistic focal point of Kempinski Marsa Malaz Doha, the custom luxury art chandelier — Oysters Chandelier, is also a large-scale custom art lighting with strong visual impact. It takes Qatar’s profound pearl diving tradition and marine culture as its spiritual core, perfectly integrating regional heritage with contemporary artistic aesthetics. Designed jointly by renowned designer Mohamad Makouk and the MATTEO team, the chandelier achieves a high unity of artistic expression and technical craftsmanship from design conception to implementation. Its core design highlight is derived from the natural layered texture of oyster shells, with smooth and rhythmic lines that accurately replicate the vivid texture and natural aesthetics of marine organisms. It not only echoes Qatar’s marine civilization, but also endows the installation with unique artistic tension through modern design language, becoming a model of high-end hotel art installation.
Technically, this large-scale custom art lighting is made of top-grade handmade Murano glass and stainless steel, crafted by artisans through hand-blown and polishing processes. Each piece of glass carries exquisite craftsmanship, and the metallic liquid surface, treated with special technology, presents a dreamy iridescent luster under light refraction, with strong visual impact. As a large-scale custom installation, its maximum specification reaches 16 meters in height and 7 meters in diameter, with a maximum weight of 6000KG, suspended in the hotel atrium overlooking the Arabian Sea. Three secondary clusters extend along the corridor, which not only enhances the continuity and layering of the space, but also forms a complete visual system for the entire hotel giant art lighting.
